Gina is the mastermind behind the fashion-tabulous, poetic blog called, "Awed." Her photo album displays an array of original, creative collections which are sure to provide inspiration and motivation.
She ardently tests the boundaries of crochet with a conglomerate of updated generational styles, from early 1910's-esque high waistline, decorative boutique dresses to 1950's matching secretarial jacket and skirt combinations to modern reconstructed, abstract apparel. Interspliced amongst those are several designs featuring bold, afro-centric patterns. All of her designs showcase an attention to detail.
With a flaire for the unorthodox, Gina's styles are haute, haute, haute!

My daughter Jasmine drew me, Mama Hook, yesterday when I got home from a hard day at work--worked til 8:30 pm. My digital camera broke and can't be repaired w/o paying almost its worth...I took snap shots from my cam--check it out below! But Hubby had a chance to get me a Nikkon at clearance for $50 but didn't so why did he tell me?! The store was a few feet away and I could have used my break time and purchased it...goodness, husbands!!! oh well, it's done...back to glad tidings of Da Hook!
Got alot of compliments today and yesterday on my creations!!!! Ya know Yarnie was blushing! Today I wore my black and white ankle length houndstooth skirt but the twist is I wore it on the reverse side--too kewl!!! gotta make a shorter version but which colors?
Alyisha's birthday is tomorrow--she'll be a teenager and I'll start pulling out my hair. Yarnie won't let me take it out on her, tee hee.

KWANZAA is a week-long Pan-African festival celebrated primarily in the US honoring African-American heritage. It is observed from Dec. 26 - Jan. 1 each year. There are 7 days of celebration featuring activities such as candle-lighting and pouring of libations and culminating in a feast and gift giving. It was created by Dr. Ron Karenga and first celebrated from Dec. 26, 1966 to Jan. 1,, 1967, timed to coincide with Christmas so that it would be remembered. Dr. Karenga calls Kawanzaa the African-American branch of "first fruits" celebrations of classical African cultures.

I may have an opp. to have a design in a music video being shot tomorrow--keep your loops crossed, huh? er , send up those loops for me!
Rec'd a phone call at 3 am this morning but I happened to be up, strange huh? Well, I slept earlier and then woke up and was watching a Jet Li flick...So, I'm excited; was suppose to be shot on Sunday then I would've been present but I have to work tomorrow...keep those loops crossed.
Read this in a new friend request's blog and it reminded me this was a confirmation of what I was speaking on to my friends at a 24 hour diner Sunday morning--hey, I didn't get home until 5:30 am
THERE ARE PEOPLE WHO CAN WALK AWAY FROM YOU. AND HEAR ME WHEN I TELL YOU THIS - WHEN PEOPLE CAN WALK AWAY FROM YOU, LET THEM WALK. I DON'T WANT YOU TO TRY TO TALK ANOTHER PERSON INTO STAYING WITH YOU, LOVING YOU, CALLING YOU, CARING ABOUT YOU, COMING TO SEE YOU, STAYING ATTACHED TO YOU. I MEAN HANG UP THE PHONE.WHEN PEOPLE CAN WALK AWAY FROM YOU, LET THEM WALK. YOUR DESTINY IS NEVER TIED TO ANYBODY THAT LEFT. THE BIBLE SAID THAT, "THEY WERE NOT FOR US. FOR HAD THEY BEEN FOR US, NO DOUBT THEY WOULD HAVE CONTINUED WITH US." [ 1 JO 2:19]
PEOPLE
LEAVE YOU BECAUSE THEY ARE NOT JOINED TO YOU. AND IF THEY ARE NOT
JOINED TO YOU, YOU CAN'T JUST GO GET SOME SUPER GLUE TO MAKE THEM STAY.
LET THEM GO. AND IT DOESN'T MEAN THAT THEY ARE A BAD PERSON; IT JUST
MEANS THAT THEIR PART IN THE STORY IS OVER. AND YOU'VE GOT TO KNOW WHEN
PEOPLE'S PART IN THE STORY IS OVER SO THAT YOU DON'T KEEP TRYING TO RAISE
THE DEAD. YOU'VE GOT TO KNOW WHEN IT'S DEAD. YOU'VE GOT TO KNOW WHEN
IT'S OVER. LET ME TELL YOU SOMETHING. I'VE GOT THE GIFT OF GOOD-BYE.
IT'S THE TENTH SPIRITUAL GIFT, I BELIEVE IN GOOD-BYE. LOL ~ IT'S NOT
THAT I'M HATEFUL, IT'S THAT I'M FAITHFUL, AND I KNOW WHATEVER GOD MEANS
FOR ME TO HAVE, HE'LL GIVE IT TO ME. AND IF IT TAKES TOO MUCH SWEAT, I
DON'T NEED IT. STOP BEGGING PEOPLE TO STAY. LET THEM GO!!! ~~Bishop T. D. Jakes

Got a meeting this afternoon and a private event /fashion networking this evening...Daughter has training for her new job 45 minutes from now that I have to get her to--she starts work Monday: her first job!
I went back to work Wednesday, whew. It's all good. Have to do alot of readjustments because of limited time now but we do (or loop or stitch laying that foundation row by row, eh???) what we got to do!
See the Biker above with the model. He was sooo very gracious to loan us his leather fringe pants for this shoot: leather & loops oh my!!!
Peace of Da Stitch,
G.
Busy, busy, busy day in the way of opportunities! Spoke with a promoter @ a design competition next month I probably will enter; hopefully I'll be meeting with an international video grapher within 2 weeks; meeting this Sat. with the event coordinator for a fashion show in Feb., probably going to a fashion networking party this Sat as well....so much, let me LOOP!!!!
I only have a few minutes before getting ready for work today...Got this video from Klassy Thug's myspace. He was at the photoshoot (The Striker Motorcycle Club) on Sunday photographing with his camera phone--probably got more pics than I did, smile.
Check it out!

It's high time that you tossed that rear view mirror of your past aside and started doing those things that you've always wanted to do. By simply beginning today, you can breathe new life into those dreams and aspirations you have been holding deep down in your heart for oh so very long.
Why spend another moment looking back over your shoulder when you have so much going for you right now? Today is the first day of the rest of your life, so why hold anything back any longer? Come on, what have you got to lose, except the best life has to offer? And you're not about to let go of your dreams, are you?
Start doing all of those things you have always wanted to do, you'll discover that there's absolutely nothing you cannot do.
I like things to happen; and if they don't happen, I like to make them happen.

I haven't really had a chance to talk about Sunday's photoshoot at The Striker Motorcyle Club nor the Fashion Show at Stephenson Middle School--both were awesome! I usually have to rest the day after since I am hyper energetic and then crash: that's my "High". I don't do drugs, nor drink so gotta be high in the sky over something. How about "sniffing dem loops"? I hear it's quite FIBERILICOUS!
I believe I had about 10 young ladies and 3 adults--one of the adults looked like a student herself! ha Miss Coach Johnson was amazing!!! I loved her spunk and at-ti-TUDE in my 2 designs--she's quick too to have to do that quick-change! Actually I was proud of all of them! I wasn't able to make any of the rehearsals so I met everyone that evening. They were well-mannered and "big", i.e. proportioned. I look at my children as an example of what middle schoolers could possibly look like, well, I was a little surprised for even the pictures sent to me didn't do them justice. It's all good--my clothes fit, whew. It'll be good to get photos from the show soon.
Now, unto the calendar shoot at The Striker Motorcycle Club--Pretty Hook Awesome!
Video below...here's the link if it doesn't show

The bikers were pretty amazing--I've never been around bikers before--they called me "Mz. Claus", probably my outfit, ya think? ho ho ho! They even fed us; that was very hospitable of them. They loved my designs...call me...ha--no, I mean ho, ho , ho!
I'll let my pics & video speak for me: let hands locked in HOOK speak fluently--go you loopy stitchologist go!!!!

You are a magician who will receive insurmountable blessings because The Creator looks greatly upon all those who use thier gifts to the fullest.
What you do is an expression of the beauty of the Creator through you and I love you for it.
You don't even know me and I never met you and you are still one of my greatest inspirations.
I hope you continued success with your many many talents and if you were marketed to the masses you would be a very rich woman.
You would rule on the runways all over the world.
It's like wearing art.
When I can I will have a piece done by you-I can't wait.
It seems like it would be addictive to where your art because you fit us so well and make magic out of our already magical curves.

It's 8:30 am and I have to start getting ready to leave for my daughter's spelling bee for her school. She wanted me there...I have a fashion show later on this afternoon. I still have to get last minute touches done to a few designs...We'll see just how much can be done w/o stressing out!
